This is the 5th Cola-Clash team to travel since the team’s first summer in 2008. The team is assembled from Baptist College of Ministry students who have a burden to see God use them in evangelism. This year’s team will be ministering in Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Iowa.
The Barbers: This is the 4th summer the Barbers have led this team. They took the Fall tour of 2009 off in order to bring Samuel into the world. Samuel came after mulitple complications along the way that ended up putting Mommy on bed rest for 6 months. Samuel now enjoys terrorizing the team members, chasing the Big Ball, and eating–he’s always eating. In general, he thinks he runs the Cola-Clash. Jonathan & Rebecca love the Cola-Clash ministry. It is such a thrill to see the Gospel work night after night. It never gets old. Rebecca enjoys cooking, sewing, reading, and taking care of Samuel. Jonathan enjoys playing a little basketball here and there, playing his trumpet, and playing with Samuel. Samuel enjoys eating. Quotable (Jonathan): “I can’t believe this GPS is taking us this way! Guys, remind me to always double check this thing!” (Rebecca): “Honey, do you want me to check the map? Don’t worry about it this time? Are you sure?” (Samuel): “I wants some Mmmmmmmmmm!”
Matthew Willis, Pepsi Team Captain: Matthew is from Tampa, Florida. He is a Sophomore Bible Major at BCM with a burden for young people. God has called Matthew to preach and to give his life in fulltime ministry. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys sports, reading, and listening to audio books, music, and preaching on his iPod. Quotable: “Pepsi spill on the floor! Wipe ‘em out the door! Oops! I mean Coke spill on the door…I mean floor…oh whatever! Just forget about it.”
Leah Fruin, Pepsi Team Co-Captain: Leah is from near Chicago, Illinois originally, but has spent several years of her life on the mission field as an “MK.” Her parents currently serve the Lord in Cambodia. Leah graduated in May of 2011 from BCM, and plans on serving the Lord in fultime ministry. Leah enjoys teaching, music, playing her flute, and keeping the rest of the team in line on travel days. Quotable: “I’m sorry, but there is absolutely no way in the world that kid should have just bought a small Pepsi T-shirt!”
Jeremy Foerster, Coke Team Captain: Jeremy comes from the wild, wild west. Also an “MK,” he grew up on a Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico. Jeremy is used to hard work, and has a burden for people. In his sophomore year at BCM, he is preparing for evangelism. Jeremy enjoys working with his hands, building things, and occasionally tearing them apart again. Quotable: “Mr. Barber, yeah…um… this thing here broke, but don’t worry, I’ll have it fixed here in just a minute.”
Abigail Dedic, Coke Co-Captain: Like Leah, Abigail also hails from the Chicago, Illinois area. She is in her third year at BCM, preparing to serve the Lord fulltime. She has a burden for missions. Abigail enjoys competing with Leah from week-to-week–especially when it comes to recruiting. For these girls, this is serious business. Abigail enjoys spending time with her siblings, singing, playing the piano, and good music in general. Quotable: “Leah and are I competitive, but we are still friends…I think. Well, anyway, we’ll make up at the end of the summer.”
